About four years ago, Alabama member Jeff Cook was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
The fiddle player and vocalist found out he had Parkinson’s, but kept it from his fans until yesterday (April 11) when he read a prepared statement informing everyone that he would step away from his duties in the band beginning April 29.
Due to the symptoms of Parkinson’s, Cook is no longer able to play to the best of his ability. He said he isn’t calling it quits, but he needs to take a break to give his body time to heal. Cook will still be attending all of Alabama’s concerts, and even perform if he feels up to it, but his duties will be taken over by another musician for the most part.
