A life wasted.
I first heard Mindy McCready sing at the Opryland Hotel in 1995 during the Country Radio Seminar.
A few of us were walking down a hallway when, from one of the rooms, comes this angelic voice. We walked in and watched and listened to this young girl singing so tenderly that she had everyone in the room mesmorized. We all had the feeling then that she was going to be, as Vince Gill would say, “the next big thing”.
A few months later her debut album Ten Thousand Angels was released. It sold over 2 million copies and produced 4 hits including the #1 song “Guys Do It All The Time”. She was 21 years old and seemingly had the world at her feet.
So very sad.
