Lots of rumors are circulating that the hit TV show Scandal will end after season 7.
The network is expected to announce next week that Scandal will end after its seventh season. This will make for a tough night in our household since it’s my fiance’s favorite show, and I’ll have to admit it’s become a guilty pleasure of mine, too.
Shonda Rhimes, who is the show’s producer, recently speculated that the show’s future was in jeopardy because of the “uncertain future in the country’s current political climate.” She says, “I used to know how it ended, and then Donald Trump was elected,” Rhimes told The Hollywood Reporter during an interview for its 100th episode. “We had a destination, and I don’t know if that’s our destination anymore.”
The show is averaging a 2.7 share with 18-49 person and reportedly had 8.9 million total viewers after seven days of delayed viewing.
Sounds like this isn’t an ABC decision, rather it’s the producer trying to make a statement. Though, it seems that most shows start to lose its appeal after five or six seasons… I mean only so many people can be out to kill Olivia Pope or try to take down “command,” right? 🙂
Scandal airs Thursdays on ABC 17 at 8pm.
