The country singer dedicated his song “The Dash” to fallen heroes.
In 2011, Crissie, the cousin of Scotty McCreery’s bass player, lost her husband during his second tour of duty in Afghanistan. When McCreery learned the news of Lance Cpl. Andrew Carpenter, he knew he wanted to tell his story.
In “The Dash,” McCreery talks about the importance of the life lived between the dates of birth and death. His heartwarming video focus’ on Crissie and her and Andrew’s son, Landon. The two are seen remembering Andrew’s life.
