As heard on Clear Country Night’s; Samantha’s Artist of the Week is Jason Eady!
Jason Eady – originally from Jackson, MS but now making music in Texas, as part of the Texas Country music scene. (Yep, that’s right… I really can’t stay away from these Texans, lately!)
Eady isn’t a newcomer to the scene, though. He notably earned major acclaim for his take on the “classic country” style with the release of his 2012 album, AM Country Heaven. The album debuted in the top 40 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.
Most recently, Eady released his 2017 self-titled album that includes stand-out tracks such as “Waiting to Shine”, “Rain” and “40 Years”.
Early influences and inspirations for Jason would include legendary singer/songwriter’s like Merle Haggard, Don Williams, Guy Clark, and Willie Nelson.
“I’ve always been drawn to writing that’s got a simplicity to it, where you’re digging deep into real day-to-day life,” “Even back in my early days of getting into music, I always cared more about the writers than the singers. I’d look up who’d written a certain song, and then go seek out more songs from that writer.”
On his style of songwriting,
“… instead of writing what I think people want to hear, I’m writing what I want to write and trusting that—as long as it’s coming from an honest place—it’ll hopefully mean something to the people listening too.”
The newest addition to his growing discography is in the works. He just released a new single off of his upcoming work, Travel On, called “Calaveras County”, which was just named one of RollingStone Magazine’s “10 Best Country and Americana Songs of the Week”.
Jason Eady will release his sixth full length album, Travel On, due out on August 10th!
