Artist of the Week 6/25/18 | The Church Sisters

As heard on Clear Country Night’s, Samantha’s Artist of the Week is The Church Sisters!

Twin sisters, Sarah and Savannah Church, collectively make up the Bluegrass and Gospel rooted duo, The Church Sisters.

The girls hail from Daville, VA and although they are in their early twenty’s, their musical career officially began before they were even teenagers!

The Church Sisters began their musical career in March of 2007 after winning a local radio talent competition. Since that life changing event- they’ve performed on National television (a little show called America’s Got Talent), alongside music legends, were featured as guest’s on Season 1 of The Joey+Rory Show and have three albums under their belt.

The duo is featured on an album called Orthophonic Joy: The 1927 Bristol Sessions Revisited, (a two-disc project that also features the likes of Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton) with a  breakout  rendition of “Where We’ll Never Grow Old”.

In recent years, one large attention garnering move was the cover and accompanying video the sisters did of Lukas Graham’s pop megahit “7 Years.” Their cover still continues to see airplay.

Sarah and Savannah on their beginnings as a duo,

Savannah and Sarah have even already crisscrossed the United States to join a former featured Artist of the Week, Delta Rae, for some shows out on the road.

A Night at The Opry is the latest project from this sisterly team. The 11 track album was released in May, 2018 and is a little Old-Timey, meets Maddie & Tae, meets Alison Krauss. The harmonies of these two are crisp and refreshing to hear.

They have already accomplished so much in the decade they’ve been making music. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for these girls.
