Artist of the Week 7/9/18 | Tyler Rich

As heard on Clear Country Night’s; Samantha’s Artist of the Week is Tyler Rich!

Tyler Rich is coming in hot, don’t be surprised if you see him soon, right here in Mid-MO!

Raised in the small farming town of Yuba City, California (around the neck of the coastal area that gave us Jon Pardi and “All On Me” singer, Devin Dawson), I think many will find his music to be upbeat and lyrics ever so catchy.

His musical influences are greatly varied. They include, (but aren’t limited to) Creedence Clearwater Revival, Michael Jackson, The Beatles and Tom Petty.

It was a cousin that introduced Rich to the Country sounds of George Strait, Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson before his grandparents surprised a then 14-year-old with a guitar so he could join in the annual family holiday jam sessions.

Tyler moved to LA after graduating from college with a degree in Economics to pursue a different sort of calling – music – via songwriting.

He’s garnered a steadily growing fan-base as an independent artist and after gaining the attention of Country star Dustin Lynch (and team) via social media, he was urged to make the move to Music City; Nashville, TN.

Rich packed up and made that all important, life changing move. Things sure happen fast when you have a sense of purpose and direction!

Tyler released his first full EP Valerie, in 2015 and recently signed a record deal with The Valory Music Company and publishing agreement with Big Machine Music. He was named one of the artists to watch for the CMT Listen Up: Artist Class of 2018 and has become a “road warrior”, performing alongside some of Country’s top acts including Dustin Lynch, Sam Hunt, Brett Eldredge, Justin Moore, Brett Young, Cole Swindell and Dan + Shay.

Tyler spoke about his “sound” in an interview with OneCountry saying,

“Keith {Urban} was a huge influence for me growing up, I’ve always been a big fan of his. It’s definitely on the pop-progressive side of country. And I like to think that my genre ADD mind is evident in my music. I like to always say to define something is to limit it. And to build walls around it constricts it from being creative. So I like to incorporate any and everything into my music at all times, but still honing in on that country core”.

Tyler Rich has a new life in Nashville, which includes a brand new fiancée and a new studio album in the works.

His new single, “The Difference” dropped a few short months ago and the premise is rooted in a meaningful way to his own relationship with actress, Sabina Gadecki. Words are powerful, and the new single reiterates that there’s a difference in using the phrase “I love you” versus the more casual, “love ya”.

There’s no set date for an album release just yet, but Tyler says,

“I’m hoping for an album to be out this fall. I’m on a radio tour for the next few months visiting stations, and then tons of festivals and dates coming in for this summer. Hoping to hop on some type of fall tour opening for somebody.”

We’ll be looking forward to it!
