Artist of the Week | 8/19/19

As heard on Clear Country Nights, my ‘Artist of the Week’ is Parker Millsap!

No, he’s no relation to Ronnie Milsap, but they share a last name – albeit spelled differently.

Parker Millsap is a 26-year-old Purcell, Oklahoma native. He  is quickly making a name for himself on the Americana music scene (which, lets be honest – that is just an offshoot of the Country Music Tree). His sound is soulful and infused with country and a little bit of Rock ‘n’ Roll!

Parker has been playing guitar since the tender age of nine, which means he’s had a lot of practice!

He’s had a string of highlights in recent years including his network television debut on CONAN, a performance with Elton John at the Apple Music Festival in London, an Austin City Limits taping and an Americana Music Association nomination for Album of the Year.

Parker already has four albums under his belt. They include; 2012’s Palisade, 2014’s self-titled LP, and 2016’s The Very Last Day – and the newest album, Other Arrangements, (released 5/4/18 via Thirty Tigers) finds him taking bold steps in new directions. Rolling Stone calls Other Arrangements Parker’s “tightest, sharpest and most infectious set of songs to date.”
