Carrie Underwood, Dan + Shay, Kane Brown, Luke Combs and Thomas Rhett will be honored as the top country artists of 2019…
… at this year’s 10th Annual CMT Artists of the Year special. The 90-minute special will air live on CMT from Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Wednesday, October 16th at 7p.
The event will feature surprise musical pairings and guests, and will also feature a live-streamed remote performance by Carrie Underwood from her Cry Pretty Tour 360 stop in Ohio.
Additional performers and presenters will be announced at a later date.
Newcomer Matt Stell was surprised Monday night with a gold plaque for his hit single “Prayed For You,” which he co-wrote. The plaque was presented by his management and label at Whiskey Jam in Nashville.
Matt said, “We just sat down to write a song about a guy, a character in a song who’s a lot like me. He’s a lot luckier than he deserves and really the message is that if you persevere and you stick with it that you give a chance for good things to happen and in the case of this song it’s relationship but it also extends out to other parts of your life whether that’s school or job or family or anything like that so that was really the message that we were trying to get across.”
“Prayed For You” is included on Matt’s seven-song EP, Everywhere But On.
