Jake Owen is facing a lawsuit over his hit song “Made For You.” Alexander Cardinale and Morgan Reid have filed a lawsuit claiming Jake’s song is a rip-off of their 2014 track with the same name.
They claim the lyrics and the melody of Jake’s tune is awfully similar to their song, suggesting “notes, structure, harmony, vocal style and rhythm are clear indicators” that it’s a copy. They also are making a case that Jake could have heard he tune, which was on Cardinale’s album “Digital Youth,” noting that it was used in a Coca-Cola commercial in 2016 and then re-released worldwide.
Jake released his “Made For You” in 2019, and it went to number one back in May.
