JMac’s Top 5 Songs Of 2012

After many hours of listening to country’s top songs from 2012, I have a compiled a list of my top 5 tunes from the past year.

Songs were graded on the following criteria:

– Were they at one time my “favorite song ever”?
– Do I believe they possibly could one day be played on “Classic Clear With Wakey Wakey”?
– Did I post a lyric from the song on Facebook or Twitter?

At #5 we have a recent Whiskey Wild Saloon alum Dustin Lynch with his debut release.

“Not sure why her path crossed mine, accident or grand design. Oh maybe God just kind of likes… Cowboys And Angels.”

Number #4 is a patriotic song from of my favorite songwriters in country music today, Dierks Bentley.

Been a long hard ride. We’ve got a ways to go, but this is still the place that we all call Home.”

Jason Aldean gets the #3 spot for a song that really hits home for all of us from one of those Fly Over States.

“You think Heaven’s doors have opened, then you’ll understand why God made those Fly Over States.”

The #2 song couldn’t go to a better group of guys.

The Eli Young Band has made a home away from home at The Blue Note these past few years, where they’ve played in front of many sold out shows and even posed with me… dressed as She-Ra: The Princess Of Power.

They didn’t judge.

Also, pretty sure this song helped Cara to make her decision to join us crazy folk at Clear 99, and we are all very thankful for that!

“I can hear them singing, keep on dreaming even if it breaks your heart.”

And the #1 song of 2012… for me… goes to one of my favorite current ARTISTS!

“Baby, is it spring or is it summer? The guitar sound over the beat of that drummer – hear it sometimes late at night on your radio.”

Sooo… what do you think of my list?  Am I way off mark?
