Road Trip Review: “Interstate Gospel” – Pistol Annies

The ladies bring more clever lyrics and pretty harmony.

(As always, music appreciation is subjective and these are just my opinions. – Scotty)

I was in after the first two lines.

Jesus is the bread of life, without him you’re toast.  Hallelujah I found the Holy Ghost.”

When I think of the Pistol Annies (Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe, Angaleena Presley) I usually think sharp-witted ladies with an edge.  But I didn’t get a lot of “edge” out of this one.  With maybe the exceptions of “Stop, Drop and Roll One”, and “Got My Name Changed Back”.

Honestly for me, a lot of this sounded like a continuation of Miranda’s “The Weight Of These Wings“, with her processing and searching after the big “Blake break-up”.

I’ve already seen several gossipy articles about which ones are Blake-related…and there are several that might make you wonder! (“Got My Name Changed Back”, “When I Was His Wife”, “Masterpiece”, “Leavers Lullaby”, etc.)

It’s real Country, and I love the harmonies.  See what you think!
