Scotty. aka Uncle Scotty.
Somnolent, Sardonic, Spongeworthy
Scotty is originally from Cape Girardeau, MO. He started his fruitful career as a paperboy. When Scotty was in 5th grade, his brother was a patient at St. Jude’s and his dad helped organize a radiothon. These were the days when stations didn’t really hold radiothons, so it wasn’t a big deal. Scotty went to school to collect money the day of the radiothon and delivered it to the station. The station was based out of trailer and for some reason he was hooked! He was fortunate enough to get his very first radio job with a station he had grown up listening too!
Over Scotty’s years being in the Country Music Radio Station arena, he has had some incredible opportunities to see amazing concerts, meet artists, and of course his favorite part, meet the listeners! His first “real” concert was Huey Lewis & the News and The Robert Cray Band at SIU Arena in Carbondale. It was his first of many road trips to a concert! This was the moment he knew “It was hip to be square.”
If you ask Scotty who his favorite artist is, he’ll tell you “I have 100 songs on my “top 10 songs of all time” list. In his opinion James Taylor is the greatest artist of all time, followed VERY closely by Merle Haggard. He did not grow up listening to old country but when he came to it later life, he completely immersed himself in it!
Scotty has one thing in particular on his “bucket list.” He wants to dunk a basketball! It is ONE thing he has never done but would LOVE to experience. Scotty and his “mates” used to play around on an 8-foot basketball hoop and he was tall enough to dunk on that one. However, he always wished he could do it just once on the real 10-foot hoop!
Clear 99 has been an incredible blessing for Scotty over the past 15 years. It’s a heritage station with great & loyal listeners. Occasionally he does miss his small town high school basketball play-by-play. Early in his career he spent every Tuesday & Friday night in a high school gym, and he misses the squeak of the shoes and the smell of the popcorn.
I was born and raised in Missouri and grew up listening to country and 80s rock, which are now my two favorite genres. Kenny Chesney and Def Leppard.
I didn’t know what I wanted to do in terms of a career until my third year in college, but I realized a decision needed to be made. I realized two things: music was a passion of mine, and I had already been on a path to a business degree. I decided to put the two together and came up with a career in music business.
I was given an amazing opportunity to be part of Clear 99 and work with the amazing on-air talents we have here. Though I never thought about being part of radio, I’m not one to shy away from trying things I know nothing about.
I’m a fan of concerts, football, hunting, I Love Lucy and getting outdoors anytime I can.
