Just hours before Montgomery Gentry’s show in Medford, NJ on Friday (September 8th), Troy Gentry was killed in a helicopter crash.
Troy’s death was confirmed on Montgomery Gentry’s Facebook page:
“It is with great sadness that we confirm that Troy Gentry, half of the popular country duo, Montgomery Gentry, was tragically killed in a helicopter crash which took place at approximately 1:00 p.m. today in Medford, New Jersey. Details of the crash are unknown. Troy Gentry’s family wishes to acknowledge all of the kind thoughts and prayers, and asks for privacy at this time.”
The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and the country music world is still mourning the loss of a great country artist with social media and concert tributes taking place over the weekend.
On September 14th, a celebration of life for Troy will be held at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry. The celebration is open to the public, with a private family gathering after.
