National Pork Month – Aric Makes Pork Belly Burnt Ends

Aric’s research revealed that they are often referred to as “meat candy”!

The Clear Crew is celebrating National Pork Month with the Missouri Pork Producers, and taking turns making a pork dish.  Aric tried one that none of us were familiar with, Pork Belly Burnt Ends…

First cut your pork belly into 1 inch cubes when it’s COLD (easier to cut)…

Put pieces into a bowl and cover with olive oil, coarse salt and pepper and your favorite bbq rub (I used D Rowe’s seasoning)…

Then place on smoker for about 2 hours at 250 degrees. (Fat side down).

Remove and place into a foil pan and cover with Dr. Pepper, Generous brown sugar, drizzle with honey and your favorite BBQ sauce (I used local Sticky Pig)…

Then back on the smoker at 250 degrees for 1-2 hours…

Let rest for 30 minutes to an hour and your meat candy is done!!!
