“It’s A DILLY Mix”

dill mix pic wide

If you can’t get enough of that dill pickle flavor…

We’ve had the discussion on the radio of “Is dill pickle flavor the new ‘pumpkin spice’ of summer?” With everything you can get dill pickle flavored these days, we think you can make the argument!

We’ve tried several different recipes, including pickle pasta salad (which is our FAVORITE!).

Listener Nancy is a retired Home Ec teacher, and brought us the recipe, and the ingredients, so Scotty gave it a whirl!

IT’S A DILLY MIX

1/2 box Rice or Corn Chex
1/2 box Cheez-Its
1 bag Crispers Dill Crackers (may use oyster crackers)
1 bag dill pretzels
1/2 bag Pickle Balls
6-8 oz dill cashews (or any nuts you prefer)

3/4 cup oil
1 pkg ranch dressing mix (dill, if you want more dill!)
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp lemon pepper
2 tsp dill weed
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

In a large bowl (maybe an unscented trash bag) combine all snack items. Combine all of the spice ingredients in a small bowl or measuring cup. (I use a glass one and microwave them before adding to the snack ingredients) Gently stir spice mix over cracker mix, using spoons or your hands, to make sure the spices have coated the crackers. Seal in ziplock bags or large containers with sealed lids. Gently shake or stir several times before serving, every few hours. Flavor develops over time, it’s usually better the second day. It freezes well in airtight containers.
